Behavior
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Start automatically on Windows sign-in | Launches XPOS ESDC quietly in the background whenever this PC starts. On by default — recommended for a Device that should always be ready. |
| Start in the system tray | Opens straight to the tray instead of showing the window, if you don't need to see it every launch. The very first run after install always shows the window regardless, so you see the welcome tour once. |
| Automatically open the receipt after signing | Pops the receipt PDF open right after a successful sale. |
| Default cashier | Pre-fills the cashier name field on the built-in Point of Sale screen. |
| Time zone | Controls how times are displayed throughout the app. Doesn't affect what's actually recorded or submitted — that's always in the correct absolute time. |
| Admin alert email | Where Pro admin notifications are sent. See Admin Email Notifications. Takes effect after a restart. |
Tax rates
Shows your currently active tax rate group and every label/category/rate in it — these are the tax options available when adding items on the Point of Sale screen. They're kept in sync with TaxCore automatically; click Resync from TaxCore to force an immediate refresh if you know rates have just changed and don't want to wait.
Diagnostics
Logs roll over daily and are kept for 30 days.
- Export logs (.zip) — bundles recent logs to send to support or your tax authority if asked.
- Open logs folder / Open data folder — opens the raw folders in Windows Explorer, for support-guided troubleshooting.
Connection
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| TaxCore endpoint | The FRCS/TaxCore server this device's card is registered against — read from the card, not editable. |
| Local E-SDC API | The address your POS software should connect to on this machine (normally http://127.0.0.1:8888). |
| Reader | Which smart-card reader to use, if more than one is connected. Click Refresh if you've just plugged one in. The choice is remembered. |
Who can reach this E-SDC (network access)
By default, only software on this same PC can talk to XPOS ESDC's local API. Two other options exist:
- Local network — other Devices/tablets on your LAN can reach it too, for a POS that runs on a separate machine from the card reader.
- Public — exposes it to the internet.
Important: this local API has no password. Anyone who can reach the port can sign invoices on your Secure Element. Only widen this beyond "This PC only" if you specifically need it, and only over a trusted network or VPN — never expose it directly to the public internet without one. Changing this opens or closes the matching Windows Firewall rule (a one-time admin prompt) and generally needs a restart to fully take effect.
Upload: the Connection card showing the network-access dropdown and its warning text.
About
Version, edition, and POS number at the top. Below that:
- Device — manufacturer, serial number, edition, and activation method. The Device fingerprint shown here is what identifies this specific PC to the license server — it's what a seat is bound to.
- This machine — computer name and operating system, for your own reference or when describing your setup to support.
- Resources & support — Documentation (this site), Take a tour (replays the guided first-run walkthrough), API reference (Swagger) for integrators, and the same Export logs / Open logs folder shortcuts as Diagnostics.
Clock synchronization
XPOS ESDC is a software-based E-SDC and has no dedicated hardware real-time clock. Instead, it keeps its own tamper-resistant clock, synchronized against an NTP time server automatically once per hour (well inside the required 48-hour maximum). Between syncs, time is extrapolated from the operating system's monotonic tick counter rather than the wall clock, so winding the Windows system clock forward or backward mid-session cannot shift fiscal timestamps by even a second, only a fresh NTP sync can. A persisted floor additionally guarantees the reported time can never move backward, even across a reboot with the system clock wound back.
The NTP time-server URL is not user-editable in the app, it is supplied and can be updated remotely by TaxCore at any time (the Set Time Server URL command), so it always reflects the correct server for your jurisdiction without manual configuration.
