Audit & Reset
FRCS requires your Secure Element to periodically prove what it has signed — a Proof-of-Audit. XPOS ESDC handles this automatically. This page explains what you're seeing on the Audit & Reset screen and when (rarely) you'd need to step in.
Unaudited SE amount
Your card tracks how much you've signed since its last successful audit, as a running total against a hard limit. The progress bar shows how close you are. This is entirely normal and resets automatically — it's not something to react to on its own.
Upload: the "Unaudited SE amount" card with a healthy (green/low) progress bar.
Remote audit (automatic)
This runs entirely in the background: XPOS ESDC submits queued packages to TaxCore, starts the audit, and applies the resulting Proof-of-Audit to reset the SE amount — no action needed from you. The card shows:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| AUTOMATIC status badge | Green = running normally. Amber ("Needs PIN") = the card needs a PIN verified before it can continue — verify it on the Status screen. Grey ("Offline") = no internet right now; it'll resume once connectivity returns. |
| Last Start Audit | When the background auditor last started a proof cycle. |
| Next Start Audit | When it's next allowed to start another one (FRCS limits how often). |
| Awaiting proof | Yes while a Proof-of-Audit has been requested and TaxCore hasn't returned it yet. This is temporary. |
| Queued packages | Invoice packages waiting to be submitted to TaxCore. |
Upload: the Remote audit card showing the AUTOMATIC badge and the four status fields (Last/Next Start Audit, Awaiting proof, Queued packages).
"Audit in progress" on the Status screen
You'll occasionally see this banner while a proof cycle is running. Don't power off or restart the computer while it's showing. It clears on its own, usually within minutes, and won't stop you from continuing to sell.
If it seems stuck
If "Awaiting proof" stays Yes for an unusually long time, XPOS ESDC has a built-in safety net: it automatically treats a Proof-of-Audit as lost after about an hour and starts a fresh attempt on its own. You don't need to do anything. On Pro, your admin is emailed if this happens, so a pattern of repeated stuck audits on one card can be caught and investigated (see Admin Email Notifications).
If signing itself stops working because the SE amount hit its hard limit, an audit reset is required before you can continue. This normally resolves within the hour as above; if it doesn't, contact support.
Local Audit (offline · USB / SD)
If this Device has no internet access for a prolonged period, use the local/offline path instead:
- Set the folder path (a USB stick or SD card) and click Export packages + ARP. This writes your queued audit packages and the Start-Audit request to that folder.
- Take the media somewhere with internet, upload the exported files via the FRCS/TaxCore portal, and download the resulting commands file (containing your Proof-of-Audit and/or a config update).
- Bring the media back, browse to the commands file, and click Import commands. XPOS ESDC applies it and writes a results file you can keep for your records.
Upload: the Local Audit card with a path selected, and the result text box showing a completed export or import message.
Offline storage capacity
Each queued, not-yet-submitted audit package (an encryption key, IV, and the encrypted invoice payload) is typically under 2KB on disk. On a Device with even 1GB of free disk space, that is room to queue on the order of several hundred thousand invoices while offline — far beyond what any single Device would realistically accumulate before regaining connectivity. Offline capacity is bounded by available disk space rather than a fixed invoice count, so it scales with whatever storage the host PC has.
